Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh – Three Nepali died and five others were injured in a road accident early Monday morning in Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh. The group was returning from the Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj when their vehicle collided on the Baranasi-Azamgarh highway. The victims were Ganesh Khanal (45), Deepa Khanal (35), and Geeta Sharma (40), all from Devdaha Municipality-9 in Nepal’s Rupandehi district. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.

Among the injured were Kopila Pokhrel, her son Shubham, Abishkar Parajui, Yamkala Devi Magar, and the driver, Ritesh Dubey, who is in stable condition. The group had just finished their visit to the Kumbh Mela, a major Hindu festival.

Police officer Ranjit Singh Rathore confirmed that Nepali authorities are working with Indian officials to bring the bodies of the deceased back home and help the injured. The accident has shocked the victims’ community in Rupandehi, where they were known for their religious devotion.

This incident has raised concerns about road safety during large events like the Kumbh Mela. The Nepali government is working to speed up the repatriation process for the victims.
