KATHMANDU: Nepal’s Foreign Minister, Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba, met with UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, in Muscat, Oman, on the sidelines of the 8th Indian Ocean Conference. The two leaders discussed strengthening Nepal-UAE ties, focusing on labor, tourism, economic cooperation, and climate change mitigation.
Minister Rana thanked the UAE for being a key destination for Nepali workers and acknowledged its role in providing employment opportunities that support Nepal’s economy. In response, Minister Sayegh praised Nepali workers for their dedication and contribution to the UAE’s socio-economic development.
Tourism and investment were also high on the agenda. Minister Rana proposed direct flights between Dubai and Pokhara International Airport, which could open new doors for tourism and business. Minister Sayegh welcomed the idea and assured that a technical study would be carried out to explore its feasibility.
Looking ahead, Minister Rana invited the UAE to participate in Sagarmatha Sambaad, an international dialogue to be held in Kathmandu from May 16 to 18, where climate change and other global issues will be discussed.
The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of both nations to deepening cooperation and exploring new opportunities for mutual growth.
