The Nepali embassy has been opened in Portugal, a historic first! A team from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has started its work now that the embassy is based in Lisbon, the country’s capital. For now, the embassy is operating from a temporary office located in the Alcântara area of Lisbon.
In collaboration with the Nepal Embassy in France, the Lisbon embassy has launched a mobile service that helps with consular services and document verifications. The mobile service began on Friday and has already handled about 200 documents, including police character certificates.
While this service camp is running, they’ll be working on things like police certificates, relation verification certificates, birth and marriage registrations, but not power of attorney verifications.
For those who applied for electronic passports at an earlier mobile camp, their read -made passports will be handed out. And for anyone who couldn’t finish their passport process, new photos and fingerprints will be collected.
Ram Babu Nepal, the Acting Head of the Nepal Embassy in Portugal, said that the embassy is providing key services, like passport and document verification, through this mobile camp to support Nepalis facing difficulties. He reassured the community that all services will be available soon but requested patience from Nepali nationals in Portugal, as the process might take some time to be fully operational.
He assured that the embassy will eventually offer all services but asked the Nepali community in Portugal for patience as things may take a little time to be fully up and running.
