A fire broke out in an apartment at Sunshree Suvarnayug Society, located near RIMS International School on NIBM Road in Pune, earlier today. Thick smoke and flames were seen coming from one of the flats, causing panic among residents. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported so far.
Residents noticed smoke around midday and quickly called the fire department. Firefighters rushed to the scene and are still working to fully control the blaze. Eyewitnesses said the fire started in a single apartment, but the exact cause—whether an electrical short circuit, gas leak, or something else—remains unclear.
“We saw smoke pouring out of the building and heard people shouting. Everyone started helping each other evacuate safely,” said one resident. Firefighters acted swiftly to stop the flames from spreading to neighboring flats. Authorities are checking the building to ensure everyone is safe and accounted for.
While the fire caused significant smoke damage, officials have not yet confirmed how much of the building was affected. Firefighters are expected to share more details once the situation is fully under control.
Local police and disaster management teams are assisting at the site. Residents have been asked to stay away from the area until safety checks are completed.
