Late last night, 211 soldiers from the Chandi Prasad Battalion of the Nepali Army took off to South Sudan. These troops, assigned for a peacekeeping mission under the United Nations, flew to Juba the capital of South Sudan. Major Milan Acharya is leading them.
The Directorate of Public Relations and Information of the Nepali Army, today, confirmed that Major Milan Acharya and his team had already reached their designated site.
Before this, on Saturday, a separate battalion Aridaman, consisting of 213 members arrived back in Kathmandu. This unit under the command of Major General Maheshwar Silwal, had been carrying out the same duty. Right now, there are 1,756 Nepali peacekeepers stationed in South Sudan. Among them are military observers, staff officers, sector commanders, plus personnel from two battalions and one company.
